Here is another variation of Fried Spicy Rings. Makes a great snack for your evening tea.! Especially on a rainy evening.!
The ingredients you need are –
- 1 cup rice floor
- 1/3 cup all-purpose floor
- 1/2 cup of freshly grated coconut or about 3-4 tbsp dehydrated unsweetened grated coconut
- 1 tsp Red chili flakes – as per taste – or 2-3 dried red chilies
- 1 tsp of white sesame seeds
- 1 tsp of cumin seeds
- Salt as per taste
- 2 tbsp clarified butter (ghee) or oil
- Oil to deep fry
Freshly grated coconut and red chilies should be ground to a fine paste without adding much water. You are out of this step if you use store bought unsweetened coconut and chili flakes.
In a large mixing bowl, add all the ingredients (1-7) and mix together adding water so it becomes a soft pliable dough. Rub some oil into your palms, pull out a small piece of dough and roll it through your palms and seal the ends. Make sure to be gentle enough while rolling them as they may break. Place them on a well greased pan or sheet. (refer pic 2).
By now you should have oil pre-heated to deep fry and make sure that it is on medium heat and fry them till its golden brown on both sides. It is very important to make sure the rings do not burn. It should normally take about 5-6 minutes.
Allow the rings to cool before storing it in an air tight container.
Enjoy it with a hot cup of caffeine.!!!
