Masala Roti – 1

   
 
There is like a hundred or more varieties of masala rotis, and that’s exactly what makes it distinct from each other. Here’s one-

You will need 

  1. 1 cup of chick pea flour (besan)
  2. 1 cup of all purpose flour (maida)
  3. 3 tbsp rice flour
  4. A pinch of salt
  5. 2-2 green chillies finely chopped
  6. 1 medium onion finely chopped
  7. 2 small carrots grated
  8. A small bunch of coriander  chopped 
  9. A pinch of turmeric
  10. A tsp of cumin seeds
  11. A cup of water for kneeding

Get all these ingredients (1-10) in a deep bowl and mix well. Now add water little by little and kneed it to a soft dough. Take a small lump of the dough and by either using the chapati/roti/tortilla press or with a rolling pin, roll them to a thin tortilla. Make sure you maintain a certain thickness to all your rotis. 

Have a flat pan heated by now to make your rotis. You will also need some oil to grease the pan. On low -medium flame, place each roti on the flat pan and cook it until the ends are beautiful golden brown. Make sure to also flip the roti for even cooking. 

Tip: Please use a greased plastic sheet under and over the lump of dough before you roll them. 

Enjoy with some spicy Indian pickles..!!! 😘
