You will need:

  1. 1 cup refined wheat flour
  2. 2 cups of sugar
  3. 2 cups of boiled and cooled milk
  4. A pinch of ground cardamom
  5. A good mix of dry fruits – raisins, cashews, almonds, pistachios.

In a pan, fry the cup of wheat flour till gets a deep brown colour without any oil. This needs to be done on low flame and frying a cup of flour would take about 25 minutes or more.

Add 2 cups of sugar to this flour and slowly incorporate the 2 cups of milk, dry fruits and cardamom and stir it till all the ingredients mix well and turn off the heat.

Take a flat plate and grease it well, preferably with ghee or butter, and pour the mixture on the plate. If you have a steamer in your kitchen, steam it till its set for about 10 mins or you can pressure cook it. Let it cool completely before you insert your knife to make cubes of this wonderful sweet dish. Enjoy.!

You can skip the steaming part of the recipe and enjoy it as Halwa.!
